Onyx Graphics Announces Operational Changes

New Cross-Functional Team Approach Aimed at Providing Superior Service to Customers and Dealer Channel

Midvale, UT. Jan. 9, 2003 -- Onyx Graphics announced today it has reorganized its technical support, sales, and marketing teams to provide superior service to its customers and distribution channels. The new company-wide approach is based on a “cross functional team” framework, drawing on the knowledge and experience of all Onyx team members to successfully resolve a problem, respond to a customer or channel need, or execute a program.

Technical Support
Onyx Graphics Technical Support has moved to the Engineering department of the company where Kendall Madsen, Director of Engineering, envisions the Technical Support team will become an integral part of the Quality Assurance process of Onyx Graphics software delivery. Madsen has implemented the following changes within the Onyx Graphics Technical Support organization:

  • The new primary focus is on live calls. Live calls are now a top priority and are targeted for immediate answer. Call wait time is currently nearly zero.
  • Phone coverage has been extended for availability between 6:00 am and 6:00 pm, Mountain Time, Monday through Friday.
  • International support is now handled by everyone within the Technical Support organization.
  • E-mail queries are shared between all employees within the Technical Support organization and are answered between calls. Questions and concerns pertaining to OEM special developments are handled by one primary contact within the Onyx Graphics Technical Support team. General questions from Onyx Graphics OEM partners are shared within the complete Technical Support organization.

    An e-mail queue has been established for distributors within Onyx Graphics European and Asian markets.     Outside Sales
    To better serve Onyx Graphics customers, outside sales territories are now organized into East Coast, Central, and West Coast sections of the North America region. Mark Maynard serves as the East Coast Territory Manager, and Geffrey York serves as the West Coast Territory Manager.

    Matt Crawford (formerly of Tekgraf) joins the Onyx Graphics sales team and now serves as the Central Territory Manager. Cassey Scoffield continues to serve as the Director of Sales within the Americas with a focus on new business development. Thomas Degenfeld and Mark Berndt remain territory managers in Europe and Asia, respectively. The Onyx Graphics Inside Sales team will now manage Latin America.

    Inside Sales
    Inside Sales has become a general service center with the overall goal of promptly providing users with the information they need. Sales representatives will assist anyone who needs help ­ there is no longer a dedicated associate for specific territories.

    The Inside Sales team has also introduced a “World Technical Sales Representative,” responsible for answering all technical sales issues and enabling customers to receive the information they need with speed and accuracy. E-mails are shared between all employees within the Inside Sales organization and are answered between calls.

    Four new e-mail addresses (listed below) have been introduced which should accelerate responses to customer needs. Dealers and distributors should now send all orders, key update requests, and general sales issues to specific e-mail queues, rather than individual sales representatives. This new approach enables users to receive required information in a more prompt manner, because answers to e-mails are not dependent upon a unique sales representative.

    The Onyx Graphics marketing department is now located within the Product Management team and utilizes a cross-functional approach to creating and maintaining deliverables.
