FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Delcam launches ArtCAM 6.0 at International Sign Expo 2003
Delcam will release the eagerly awaited Version 6 of its ArtCAM Pro software at the International Sign Expo, on April 3-5, 2003, at the Mandalay Bay Hotel, Booth #2051 in Las Vegas Nevada. Packed full with new features for two and three-dimensional design and improved 3D machining, ArtCAM Pro 6 is set to provide a powerful solution for Sign Makers using a CNC router.
With the new filleting command, vector trimming and multi-node editing, creations can be accurately filled arcs between two lines or in a corner, multi trimmed or edited, by moving or deleting many points simultaneously. This drastically reduces design times when working on imported or created vectors.
For companies that include lettering in their designs, a new font editor will allow the editing of existing fonts and the creation of unique font designs. Both the new fonts and any frequently used symbols can be stored in libraries for future use. Standard “single-stroke” engraving fonts have been added to the selection of options, to give faster engraving times.
Commenting on the new release, James Booth, North America ArtCAM Sales Director said, “A number of extra three-dimensional modelling tools have been added. These include new blending options and extra techniques for creating asymmetrical shapes, allowing more realistic designs to be produced much easier and in fewer steps than before. Wrapping for instance, allows a wrap of one relief over another relief surface with minimal distortion and stretching creating a much more realistic natural shape.”
ArtCAM Pro 6 also features a new rendering module that will allow more realistic 3D shaded parts to be produced. These can be printed or saved as images for use in marketing materials or for customer approvals. Options will include the ability to use a variety of materials, textures and colors; such as metallic, quickly making parts look like shiny metal, varnished wood or glossy paint.
The addition, the new machining functionalities in ArtCAM 6 will allow more efficient machining of detailed parts. With “Toolpath Block Copy and Transform” toolpaths can be created on a single set of vectors and then block copy or moved to cut many copies of the same thing. Even combinations of toolpaths such as drilling, profiling and v-carving can be copied in this way. With “3D Rest Machining” a tool will be provided for comparing what would be machined to the actual relief. Vectors will then be generated, showing areas that have not been cut due to a cutters size. This allows the user to generate a toolpath only in these areas with a smaller cutter. Maximising what each tool can do giving a more detailed finish to parts in less time.
