FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ISA Announces New Technical Director

Alexandria, VA (May 20, 2003) The International Sign Association (ISA) has welcomed Muhammad Khan as the new director of technical services. Khan will serve as a technical resource for ISA members and committees, and will act as ISA’s representative to national code panels, standards committees, and other associations. Khan will also conduct technical seminars and develop technical studies, publications, and training tools. Khan serves as the staff liaison for ISA’s technical committee and subcommittees.

“We’re very pleased to welcome Muhammad as a member of the ISA team,” said Dean Garritson, president and CEO of the association. “His background, experience, and network will help us provide valuable technical assistance to our members.”

Previously, Khan worked as director of corporate standards for Everbrite, a major sign manufacturing company, where he handled sign manufacturing and installation issues, new technology implementation, performance and compliance testing, and developed internal standards and technical guidelines.

Khan will also serve as ISA’s first online expert advisor, responding to inquiries sent to the new “Ask the Expert” e-mail address at techinfo@signs.org. In addition, he will be available to answer technical questions for members who contact the association.

He is a member of several technical committees, including the Underwriters Laboratory and CSA committees working on sign industry standards, and served as chair of two subcommittees of the ISA technical committee working on UL / CSA bi-national standards. Khan has also been an active member of the ABYC, ANSI, ASTM, IESNA, SES, and NFPA organizations.

ISA is 2,200 member organization composed of manufacturers, users, and suppliers of on-premise signs and sign products produced by more than 400,000 employees in all 50 states and 69 countries.

ISA exists to support, promote and improve the $30 billion-a-year sign industry, which sustains the nation’s nearly $3 trillion-a-year retail industry.
