FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
EIZO Upgrades ColorNavigator Calibration Software to Version 2
Cypress, CA, September 29, 2003
Eizo Nanao Technologies Inc. (“EIZO”) today announced it is upgrading its ColorNavigator calibration software to Version 2. New features include color profile generation for different uses, post-calibration color adjustment, and measurement of the monitor’s brightness and color coordinates. ColorNavigator Version 2 will also support the new GretagMacbeth® Eye-One™ Display color measurement device. Customers currently using Version 1 can download Version 2 from the EIZO web site free of charge from November 5.
“ColorNavigator Version 2 is a significant upgrade and a mere six months after Version 1,” said David Waletzki, Eizo’s Vice-President of Sales, North America. “The new features it offers gives users greater control over their ColorEdge monitors and improves overall usability. Best of all, the upgrade is free.”
Concurrent with the November 5 release of ColorNavigator Version 2, EIZO will also begin offering the CH1 LCD hood for ColorEdge monitors. The CH1 reduces screen glare for on screen color consistency.
New ColorNavigator Version 2 Features
Color Profile Generation ColorNavigator Version 2 can save up to 20 different calibration results. Any of these results can be used for setting the monitor or generating a ColorSync or ICM color profile for the computer’s operating system. For example, if you use one monitor for both web design and printing, you can save a different calibration result for each task. When switching between tasks, just call up the appropriate result in ColorNavigator and the settings will immediately change.
Post-Calibration Color Correction Sometimes in the printing process, achieving satisfactory color matching with printed material or another target reference is still difficult even after calibrating the monitor and using the color profile. For additional color manipulation, ColorNavigator Version 2 allows adjustment of red, green, blue, cyan, magenta, and yellow. The hue and saturation for all six colors can be adjusted independently.
Color Coordinates and Brightness Measurement ColorNavigator Version 2 can take a reading of the monitor’s brightness and color coordinates. Up to 20 results can be saved for continuous, long-term tracking of the monitor’s performance.
ColorNavigator software was developed by EIZO and supports a wide range of GretagMacbeth Eye-One measuring devices. Together, they provide hardware calibration by directly controlling the 10-bit Look-Up Table of ColorEdge monitors, ensuring that no color gradations are lost in the calibration process. The calibration result is a Delta-E* difference of less than 0.5 a difference so small that it is not perceptible by the human eye. ColorNavigator Version 2 is compatible with Macintosh OS 9.2.2 and OS X 10.2 or later, and Windows 98SE, Me, 2000, and XP.
*Delta-E is the color difference between the target white point and the monitor’s white point.
CH1 LCD Hood
This new hood provides a comfortable, glare-free environment for viewing the monitor’s screen. The CH1 fits both the ColorEdge CG21 (21.3") and CG18 (18.1") and offers 148 mm of shielding from ambient light across the sides and top. A sliding plate on top allows the CH1 to remain affixed to the monitor when calibrating.
