New Onyx PosterGenie 6.0 Software Simplifies POP Sign Making
Companies Gain Easy Control of Cost-Effective Point of Purchase Signage
Midvale, UT, October 23, 2003 -- Onyx Graphics today announced Onyx PosterGenie software version 6.0, part of an integrated system designed to enable local printing of high quality, semi-customized point-of-purchase
(POP) signage for corporate/franchise and retail markets. Onyx PosterGenie software is an OEM solution available to Certified System Integrators to offer as part of their value-added packages. Targeted end-users of Onyx
PosterGenie software are corporate/franchise operations such as national food and beverage companies and their franchisees and retailers; automobile manufacturers and their dealers; and large retail chains such as grocery stores, big-box department and electronic stores, and home improvement centers.
With Onyx PosterGenie software, corporate marketing departments can define templates for advertising and point-of-purchase signage, banners, posters, window displays and other in-store graphics. The templates are distributed
to the individual franchisees, retailers, dealers or distributors for local customization and printing. Corporate offices maintain control over critical elements such as colors and logo placement, while the franchisees
and retailers get in-store print capabilities that give them the ability to quickly react to daily market changes, such as excess inventory or competitive promotions.
System Overview
The Onyx PosterGenie system is composed of three parts: a Template Creation Module, Onyx PosterGenie software, and the System Integrators Bundle.
1. The Template Creation Module enables designers in corporate marketing departments to use familiar PostScript® graphics application software, such as QuarkXpress, Adobe Illustrator and CorelDraw, to create poster templates that protect logo placement, colors and other corporate standards. Text and
logo fields available for customization can be defined in this step. The template can then be included in a catalog with other templates and
distributed to franchisees and retailers that have Onyx PosterGenie systems installed.
2. Onyx PosterGenie software produces professional, high quality posters from a catalog of pre-designed poster templates. Onyx PosterGenie software includes a Template Customizer and print queue.
The Template Customizer features a simple three-step system: select, customize and print. The user selects a template from the catalog
supplied by the corporate marketing department. The user then clicks on the
editable areas and types in custom data, such as a promotional price for a specific product. The user then sends the file to the printer for
high-quality prints that are ready to install.
The print queue features an easy-to-use, browser-driven interface designed for non-technical users. The user can select the printer, media, number of copies, rotation, and magnification.
3. The System Integrator Bundle includes the two parts listed above, along with tools that enable the Certified System Integrator to sell, deploy and support the Onyx PosterGenie system.
The Onyx PosterGenie System Certified System Integrators will include Onyx PosterGenie software as part of an overall POP print solution package. Onyx PosterGenie software gives integrators the freedom to configure print systems to meet the specific
needs of their clients. At the corporate/design end, the integrator will
install the Template Creation Module. In the retail or franchise store, the integrator will install a popular wide format inkjet printer from a company such as Encad, Hewlett Packard or Epson, along with a processing workstation
and Onyx PosterGenie software.
The Onyx PosterGenie system can also be used by franchise sign shops to help expand their businesses into wide format printing. With the Onyx PosterGenie system, these shops can select from pre-formatted templates or easily create templates and market them to their customers as customizable, high quality signs and posters.
