Lyon-based screen and digital print specialist, ATC Caractères, has used its
new VUTEk® PressVu® UV 180/600 EC, flatbed printer, to produce outdoor
banners and signage for the French rugby stadium the 'Stade de France' in
Paris. Utilizing the rigid and flexible substrate capabilities of the
printer, ATC produced high quality advertising banners, strong enough to
withstand the effects of high wind and deliver its sponsors messaging to
thousands of spectators and millions of television viewers.
Christophe Aussenac, a Partner at ATC Caractères comments, 'The PressVu® UV
has become the technology of choice for both customers and staff. Due to its
ease of use, high quality print, speed of job delivery and great
flexibility, we often forget that we have screenprinting products.'
Using the high quality capabilities of its PressVu® UV, ATC has printed and
installed all advertising banners and directional signage for the Stade de
France. In 2003, ATC produced a total of 300, 30 m x 15 m mesh banners for
sponsors including France Telecom and eutelsat. Featuring high quality
images of its advertisers' products and services, all banners were printed
on mesh to combat the effects of high winds around the ground. For obvious
reasons, it was particularly important to the ground's management that no
compromise was made to the integrity of the graphics, and spectators'
safety.
In addition to the mesh banners, ATC also printed a number of other
directional signs on vinyl. Having worked for the Stade de France for the
last three years, thanks to its high quality printed products, reliability
and responsive services, ATC has been able to retain its contract and ensure
continued work in 2004.
Speaking of its decision to purchase the PressVu® UV, Christophe continues,
'We originally purchased the VUTEk® UltraVu® 3300 for general large format
work, including banners and exhibition graphics, and then installed an
UltraVu® 2360 SC in 2001.
'We soon realized the potential of flatbed printers. By printing direct to
the final substrate, not only could we bypass a whole production process,
but we could also take advantage of jobs our screenprinter couldn't handle,
including short-run printing on to plexiglass, wood, paper and vinyl.
Additionally, the PressVu's 600 dpi resolution has enabled us to make use of
its ultra fine printing capability, for extremely small jobs such as
stickers. This has become quite a big market for us.'
'The PressVu® UV was the best flatbed product on the market. With its high
quality print for both rigid and flexible substrates, we knew that we would
be adding another production solution capable of extending our services and
adding significant value to customers.'
Using its PressVu® UV to explore new markets, ATC has recently produced
window graphics and internal banners for a pharmacy in the French ski resort
of BLEU VERT Groupe PUBLICIS CACHEMIRE. Completed in only one week, each
window graphic was sponsored by Gibaud, the leading medical company for the
sports industry worldwide.
Carrying graphics printed on self-adhesive mesh, 100 windows of the resort's
main building, now feature advertisements seen by thousands of skiers and
snow boarders on the mountain. Not only has the project enabled the resort
to maximize revenue opportunities, but it has also provided a new and
exiting promotional vehicle for Gibaud to reach its core audience.
Chistophe comments, 'One of the biggest client concerns for this job was
ensuring that Gibaud's corporate colors could be matched on both the window
graphics and internal banners. But one of main reasons we bought the
PressVu® UV was for its ability to print consistently on a wide range
substrates, and match colors successfully.
'So accurate is the PressVu® UV, that we are now confident of matching
standard PANTONE® colors on almost any substrate. This capability is
essential to our business, enabling us to maximize creativity and ensure
color accuracy for our blue chip clients, with strict corporate identity
guidelines.'
Due to its success in the exhibition market, ATC now has a contract to
produce graphics for all shows attended by the world's leading inflatable
boat manufacturer, Zodiac. In 2003 alone, ATC printed more than 200
double-sided mesh banners for the company using its VUTEk® UltraVu® 3300.
Zodiac used dramatic, high definition photographic images to portray its
products, and naturally wanted ATC to ensure the same high quality for the
printing of its stand graphics. This was particularly important as the
graphics would be seen close up, as well as from a distance. Since
installation of its PressVu® UV, ATC has increased time savings to the
client, a crucial factor in meeting worldwide exhibition deadlines.
Established only ten years ago as a producer of hand-painted signs, ATC
quickly progressed to large format digital operations via the purchase of
its UltraVu® 3300 and its UltraVu® 2360 SC printers. Currently employing 55
people, ATC today specializes in screen and digital printing, producing a
number of high quality applications including vehicle graphics, POP graphics
and banners of all sizes.
