Satisfaction ‘High’ with SGIA’s June 22-23 Membrane Switch Symposium
FAIRFAX, VA - Over 250 industry specialists participated in this year’s Membrane Switch Symposium, June 22-23 at the Adam’s Mark Hotel in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. Participants explored the latest imaging technologies, production methods, equipment, materials, and issues surrounding this highly specialized niche.
Sponsored by Nicomatic (Warminster, PA) - and co-sponsored by Autotype Americas Inc. (Schaumburg, IL), Conductive Compounds Inc. (Londonderry, OH), FLEXcon (Spencer, MA), Nazdar (Shawnee, KS), and 3M (St. Paul, MN) - the Specialty Graphic Imaging Association’s 11th Annual Membrane Switch Symposium provided participants an opportunity to review the unique problems and challenges facing membrane switch printers … and to learn what it takes to meet today’s end-user demands.
Attendees gave high marks to virtually all aspects of this year’s Symposium. Evaluations indicated that: the quality and quantity of information presented was favorable; respondents felt that this year’s speakers were quite good and were positive; and that the Symposium had met their expectations. In addition, attendees were pleased to make valuable contacts and are planning to attend next year’s Symposium.
This year’s programs included topics dealing with global sourcing & competition for graphics and keypads; the effect of membrane switch construction on metal domes; surface mounting components on membrane switches; registration methods for accurate placement of LEDs, domes, spacers and graphic layers; productivity enhancements for membrane switch manufacturers; color management opportunities; substrate and ink selection for screen printing membrane overlays; alternatives to laminating adhesives; and radio frequency identification technology, among others.
The Symposium opened with a golf outing and welcome reception on June 22, followed by educational programming and lunch the next day. A tour of Nicomatic’s facilities took place on the evening of June 23.
