Onyx Graphics Announces Integration of PANTONE Color Libraries for Color Matching

MIDVALE, UT -­­ Onyx Graphics, a leader in large format digital printing solutions, has been awarded Pantone approval to integrate PANTONE® Color definitions into the latest versions of Onyx Workflow software. This added capability offers Onyx users a fully automated PANTONE Color function, saving operators time by eliminating manual input of color definitions, thereby reducing inaccuracies in the final output and increasing efficiency of the printing process.

Pantone, Inc. is the global authority on color and provider of professional color standards for the design and print industries. With PANTONE Color definitions incorporated into Onyx software, operators can simply process print jobs containing named PANTONE spot colors and have the software automatically match output to the PANTONE Colors as closely as possible. The PANTONE Color capability extends to all printers supported by Onyx Workflow software including CMYK, CMYKOG and RGB photo imaging print devices. Onyx currently supports more than 200 of the leading large and grand format printers.

In addition, the Onyx Media Manager application now shows users how accurately PANTONE Colors can be matched on each printer, ink and media combination, enabling operators to see how accurately the RIP color engine can match PANTONE Colors before printing. Onyx Media Analyzer, a tool that helps qualify new media, also incorporates the PANTONE Color Library, giving operators the ability to assess which PANTONE Colors are within the gamut of a media even before the media has been calibrated or profiled.

The update for PANTONE Color capability is available now at no cost to registered users of Onyx Graphics standard workflow products including Onyx RIPCenter�, Onyx PosterShop®, and Onyx ProductionHouse� Version 6.0. The PANTONE Color Libraries are not available for any OEM or co-branded versions. Onyx users can access the free update via the on-line AutoUpdate System. Users simply run the AutoUpdate application, which will automatically install the PANTONE Color Libraries and any necessary software updates.
