CLEAR FOCUS Imaging Secures Patent License to Protect Customers

SANTA ROSA, CA — September 1, 2004 — CLEAR FOCUS Imaging, Inc., the leading manufacturer of One Way Vision window-graphics films, has been granted a license under the following U.S. and Canadian patents owned by Contra Vision Limited: US Re37,186, US 5,858,155, CA 1258171 and CA 2208716. The license authorizes CLEAR FOCUS to make, have made, use, sell, offer for sale, and/or import, lease, or otherwise distribute, transfer or dispose of products covered by the patents in the United States and Canada.

CLEAR FOCUS made the practical business decision to obtain this license for the benefit of its customers who will no longer face demands for individual patent licenses or the threat of patent infringement litigation from Contra Vision in the U.S. or Canada. This action brings long-awaited clarity to the marketplace and benefits both distributors and users of CLEAR FOCUS perforated window-graphics products. Notwithstanding the decision to take a license, CLEAR FOCUS continues to deny all allegations of infringement and makes no admission of liability, infringement or the validity of Re37,186 or other licensed patent.

A pioneer in the field of One Way Vision technology, CLEAR FOCUS manufactures and distributes its perforated films in North America under one or more of the following patent rights held by CLEAR FOCUS Imaging, Inc.: US 4,883,556, US 4,940,622, US 5,525,177, US 5,609,938, US 5,773,110 and US 6,258,429. CLEAR FOCUS has granted licenses under one or more of these patents to Avery, 3M and Continental Grafix. Users of perforated One Way Vision films from unauthorized companies are urged to obtain expert legal advice on the use of such products relative to these patents.
