Roland Unveils Print/Cut Workflow At Labelexpo
Rosemont, IL - At Labelexpo 2004, show goers got their first look at Roland DGA’s unique print/cut technology. They witnessed the 54-inch SOLJET SC‑540EX and 30-inch VersaCAMM cranking out photorealistic food labels, membrane panels, sports logos, and serial-numbered decals.
“The SC-540EX and VersaCAMM are changing the way people produce labels and decals,” said Barry Johnston, Roland DGA Product Marketing Manager. “The ability to print and die cut labels on a variety of durable, adhesive-backed media with a single device represents a giant leap forward for the entire industry.”
The SOLJET SC-540EX achieves true 1440x1440 dpi resolution, allowing it to match colors and produce small, crisp text. The six-color inkjet can also print up to 300 sqft/hr for large production runs. It uses advanced Eco-SOL INK to print directly onto both coated and un-coated materials.
After printing, the SC-540EX streamlines the production process by automatically contour cutting graphics without having to reload or reposition them. Roland’s precision cutting technology is crucial for label production. When lamination is needed, the Roland Quadralign™ four-point optical registration system automatically realigns the cutting path after reloading the media and compensates for skew and distortion.
“With my SC-540EX, I print and cut decals with photorealistic graphics and tiny text,” said Skip Grant, owner of Grant Graphics. “It can produce up to 15,000 decals in an hour.”
The VersaCAMM four-color printer/cutter makes it easy to produce colorful decals, labels and just about any sign imaginable. Its combination of printing and cutting in a single device significantly improves production speed and ease of use. Like the SOLJET EX, the VersaCAMM also features the Quadralign four-point optical registration system and advanced Eco-SOL INK.
