R&E Council Of NAPL To Name Binding, Finishing And Distribution Operations Manager Of The Year

White Stone, VA - The Research & Engineering Council of the National Association for Printing Leadership has announced that it will name its second annual Binding, Finishing and Distribution Manager of the Year. The award—to be presented at the R&E Council of NAPL 47th annual Binding, Finishing and Distribution Seminar, April 5 and 6 in Chicago—recognizes an individual who personifies the principles of leadership in binding, finishing or distribution management, and has a proven record of providing outstanding service for customers and creating value for his or her company. At the 2004 meeting, the award was presented to Frank M. Arndorfer, Vice President of Finishing Operations at Quad/Graphics.

“This award honors those who excel in the challenging arena of binding, finishing and distribution operations,” said Ron Mihills, managing director of the R&E Council of NAPL. “It is not meant for company presidents and owners, but for those individuals who are integrally involved in their companies’ postpress production activities, including, but not limited to, bindery managers, plant managers, or plant engineers.” Nominations for the 2005 R&E Council Binding, Finishing and Distribution Operations Manager of the Year award may be submitted by co-workers, company owners, suppliers, or industry colleagues. Since 1950, the Research & Engineering Council of the National Association for Printing Leadership has been dedicated to the education of printing industry personnel in the latest technologies and productivity improvement methods. The Council conducts seminars at which publishers, printers, educators, consultants and suppliers meet to share information and learn about leading edge technologies affecting the graphic arts industry. At three annual seminars—Pressroom, Bindery, and Digital Smart Factory—the latest technologies are reviewed in the context of actual print production. The Council also holds technology breakfasts at key industry trade shows, and an annual meeting highlighting critical trends in the graphic arts industry.
