Roland Announces New SOLJET™ PRO II V Series of Inkjet Printers and Printer/Cutters

IRVINE, CA - Roland DGA Corporation, an industry leader in wide-format printing and integrated print/cut technology, today introduced the new SOLJET PRO II V series of wide-format inkjet printers and printer/cutters with several enhancements that increase speed, precision and overall performance.

Ideal for sign makers, printers, screen printers, graphic artists, fine artists, photographers and others involved in the production of high resolution professional graphics, the SOLJET PRO II V line includes the new 54” SC-545EX printer/cutter, Roland’s fastest and most robust print/cut solution to date. The new line also features the 74” SJ-745EX and 64" SJ-645EX precision inkjet printers. SOLJET PRO II V inkjets are designed for performance and ideally suited for wide-format applications such as signs, banners, billboards, large fine art reproductions, POP displays and more.

This latest generation of SOLJETs is based on Roland’s new V Technology, a combined hardware and software solution engineered to take advantage of Roland’s award-winning expertise in digital printing, digital die-cutting, RIPs, ink and media. V Technology hardware upgrades include increased print speeds of up to 340 square feet per hour at 360 x 360 dpi (SJ-645EX and 745EX print only models in CCMMYK mode) and 315 square feet per hour (SC-545EX printer/cutter ­ CMYKLcLm at 450 x 360 dpi); a media counter; and new print modes including Artistic Mode for precision printing at 1440 x 1440 dpi resolution. In addition, the SJ-645EX and SJ-745EX printers feature a choice of ink sets including newly added CCMMYK for ensuring greater color density even at the highest speed.

Roland VersaWorks
Roland created VersaWorks, a powerful software RIP, expressly for Roland’s latest inkjet printers. VersaWorks is built upon the genuine Adobe® PostScript® CPSI™ RIP engine and is compatible with Windows 2000/XP Pro. It features an efficient graphic based interface that allows you to take full advantage of all the PRO II V advanced hardware features without a lengthy learning curve. In addition to advanced color management tools, VersaWorks includes a wide variety of convenient layout, edit and print functions such as nesting, tiling and auto/manual-layout, among others. VersaWorks also offers the ability to preview jobs on screen, reducing ink and media consumption. Users can use two job queues for handling different print conditions and can automatically update VersaWorks through the Internet, ensuring that they always have the latest software version and custom ICC profiles available.

SC-545EX Delivers Print/Cut Advantage
Based on Roland’s integrated print/cut technology, the SC-545EX delivers a one-step operation for the production of complex sign graphics ­ printing and then automatically contour cutting on one device without any steps in between. As a result, the SC-545EX can be operated unattended and boasts an expanded range of applications including labels, vehicle graphics, decals and heat transfers for apparel. To further streamline the production process, the SC-545EX includes Quadralign®, Roland's unique four-point optical registration system, which allows users to remove prints, laminate and simply reload them for precision cutting. Quadralign automatically realigns the cutting path and compensates for skew and distortion.
