Roland Announces Industry’s First White Eco-SOL™ INK

Las Vegas, Nevada, - Roland DGA Corporation, a leading provider of wide-format inkjet printers and integrated print/cutters, today announced White Eco-SOL INK, the industry’s first eco-solvent white ink.

On display at this week’s ISA International Sign Expo (Roland exhibit, Booth #3818), White Eco-SOL INK is available as an option for the company’s 54”-wide SOLJET™ SC-545EX integrated printer/cutter. White Eco-SOL INK expands the range of applications for this powerful inkjet by allowing it to print white graphics onto a broad range of transparent media substrates. In addition, White Eco-SOL INK can be printed as an undercoat on transparent substrates to increase the opacity and brightness of four-color printing.

“We are very enthusiastic about the introduction of White Eco-SOL INK, which is both an industry first and a significant addition to our SOLJET SC-545EX integrated printer/cutter,” said Barry Johnston, color products division manager. “White Eco-SOL INK allows professionals, for the first time, to expand into new markets with a range of applications involving transparent media. It is now easier than ever to create white graphics for window signs, package comps, labels and decals all with the convenience, safety and durability of Roland eco-solvent inks.”

Building on Roland’s award-winning line of Eco-SOL INK, the new White Ink has been tested, certified and profiled for performance with Roland’s SC-545EX. It performs with both coated and uncoated transparent media substrates including Roland’s SOLJET Certified Media Clear Adhesive Vinyl (Part #SCM-SPVCT) and Eco-SOL Media Clear Calendered Vinyl with Permanent Adhesive (Part # ESM-CCVP). Like other Eco-SOL INKs, the new White Ink is safe to use, is virtually odor-free, and requires no additional ventilation or environment equipment.

White Eco-SOL Ink Features:

  • Industry’s First White Eco-Solvent Ink
  • Prints Crisp, White Graphics Onto Transparent Substrates
  • Safe to Use and Virtually Odor Free
  • Requires no Special Environmental or Ventilation Equipment
  • Available as an option for SC-545EX Printer/Cutter
  • Comes in convenient, no-mess 220 ml cartridges

    Roland VersaWorks™ Software RIP
The White Ink Option Kit and the SC-545EX were developed in tandem with VersaWorks. This all-new RIP was developed by Roland engineers to ensure exceptional production output with unmatched ease of use. VersaWorks is built upon the genuine Adobe® PostScript® CPSI 3016™engine. It supports true Adobe® PostScript® 3 and can be used on Windows XP and 2000 operating systems.

VersaWorks recognizes the unique properties of files created for white ink and optimizes those files for output to the SC-545EX. In addition, VersaWorks advanced profiles help ensure quality output when using the high density required for white ink applications.

    SC-545EX Delivers Print/Cut Advantage
The SC-545EX features Roland’s integrated print/cut technology, which delivers a one-step operation for the production of complex sign graphics printing and then automatically contour cutting on one device without any steps in between. As a result, the SC-545EX can be operated unattended and boasts an expanded range of applications including signs, banners, POP displays, labels, fleet and vehicle graphics, decals, and heat transfers for apparel, among others. To further streamline the production process, the SC-545EX includes Quadralign®, Roland's unique four-point optical registration system, which allows users to remove prints, laminate, and simply reload them for precision cutting. Quadralign automatically realigns the cutting path and compensates for skew and distortion.

White Eco-SOL INK will be offered as an option for the PRO II V SOLJET SC-545EX and is scheduled for availability in June 2005.
