Signconex Acquires Variatex from Grafityp

OEM manufacturer Signconex Ltd. has bought the production rights, tooling and stocks of the Variatex changeable letter system from Grafityp N.V. of Belgium at a replacement value in excess of €300,000, and will supply UK and world-wide markets direct from the Signconex factories in Bury, Lancashire. Signconex MD, Arthur Moore, explains, “We have supplied our leisure industry and office equipment customers with Grafityp’s Variatex changeable letters for the past 15 years. So, when Grafityp announced they were ending production for strategic reasons, we decided to buy their machinery and stocks in order to ensure continuity of supply through our trade distributors. Grafityp’s Variatex customers will become part of our network of overseas partners and will buy direct from us in Bury.” The Variatex letters and numbers (available in white, gold, or silver) are used in the Signconex range of grooved information display boards which have thousands of applications especially in the catering and licensing trades, and in the office equipment markets. Typically these have been the Scroll and Scribe models [class] of display cases. “We are delighted to welcome Grafityp’s overseas customers as part of our world-wide distribution channels,” says Arthur Moore, “and we have undertaken to hold the price of Variatex letters at 2004 rates for the foreseeable future.
