SGIA Surveys & Statistics: Digital Imaging Revenue Up 12.3% SGIA.org notes top 3 markets: advertising, corporate identity & retail

Fairfax, Virginia - The vast majority of respondents to SGIA's Surveys & Statistics Web site say their digital imaging revenues have increased this year.

"Analysts expect digital imaging revenues to top $8 billion this year and to reach $10 billion by the end of 2006 — and that's at a conservative rate of growth," Alan Anderson, Specialty Graphic Imaging Association Vice President, Education & Management Services said.

The average revenue increase reported to the SGIA site came in at 12.3 percent, with the largest segment of respondents (30.8 percent) reporting revenues up by 20 percent or more.

Respondents were also asked to identify their top three markets and products. Leading their list of markets: advertising (57.9 percent), corporate identity (45.9 percent) and retail stores (30.8 percent). At the top of the digitally imaged products were posters/banners (73 percent), point-of-purchase materials (56.6 percent) and pressure-sensitive decals (31.45 percent).

Survey data is available to participants at Surveys & Statistics on SGIA.org. Participation is free and open to the entire industry, and respondents are rewarded with access to cumulative data and top-line summary White Papers. SGIA members also eligible to receive full survey analyses.

"Once you get the data, strategize and act," Anderson added. "Look at the products you printing. Examine the markets you serve. See where you fit in relation to the rest of the marketplace. Ask yourself if you're meeting customers' current and future needs. Then talk to clients and potential clients to verify what the numbers seem to say."

SGIA — Supporting the Leaders of the Digital & Screen Printing Community "Specialty imaging" comprises digital imaging, screen printing and the many other imaging technologies SGIA members use, including those they'll tap in the future. These are the imaging processes and technologies employed to create new products and to enhance existing products including point-of-purchase displays, signs, advertisements, garments, containers, and vehicles. To make the most of your specialty imaging business, take full advantage of the information on SGIA.org, and experience the specialty graphic imaging industry first-hand at SGIA'05 (September 28-October 1, New Orleans, Louisiana).
