CNN selects Philips Vidiwall as their supplier of choice
Philips Vidiwall is pleased to announce that it was selected as the supplier of choice for a prestigious project for CNN.
Being rewarded with this important contract is a clear signal to the American market. Not only is this a prominent reference, but it has been installed mainly in Atlanta, GA, home of the Philips North America headquarters.
This multi-million dollar project consists of eight Philips LED video screens in different shapes and sizes. Five of these have been installed around the CNN Center in Atlanta. Inside the CNN Center there are also two Delta 6-3000 video screens showing CNN programming 24 hours a day. Additionally, there is a Delta 20-3000 indoor ticker measuring about 119’ or 36 m in length. All of these incorporate the unique dedicated technologies, Philips ASP™, Philips SmoothPix™ and Philips DirectDrive™. The indoor screens were installed by the end of May 2005.
Two more giant Philips LED video screens have been installed outside the CNN Center. These Delta 25-5000 video screens are 15.75’ high x 28.83’ wide (454 ft˛) or 42 m˛ each and have been installed in August 2005. Two more identical outdoor screens have been installed along the Interstate 75/85, which motorists will be able to enjoy for many years to come. Through the use of the patented Philips DPMT™ technology, the screens offer the ultimate resolution perception in the industry.
A final Philips LED video ticker has been connected to the other screens from its position in Columbus Circle, New York. This Delta 25-5000 ticker is approximately 10.5’ high x 78.7’ wide (827 ft˛) or 77 m˛. It is part of the complex network that connects all eight screens through the use of the advanced Philips NetMaster™ operating system. Philips NetMaster™ is a highly advanced integrated system managing and controlling all the screens, both in Atlanta and NYC.
“We are extremely pleased with the image quality of the screens installed so far,” says Scott Tisler, Chief Technical Officer. “The team of Philips engineers are very professional and everything has gone according to plan. We are very excited about the huge impact these video screens will make, once they have all been installed.”
This major turnkey project has been carried out by dedicated project teams working together.
