DuPont Color Communication Releases Four New Wide Format Products the SGIA Digital Expo in Phoenix

DuPont Color Communication (DuPont) used the 2005 SGIA Digital event as a kind of “coming out party” for introducing four new products in the area of wide format inkjet. With current products well-known in the areas of color proofing, DuPont demonstrated its commitment to expanding into wide format inkjet digital printing applications with all new product offerings including several new printers and a new version color management and workflow tools software.

At a Friday morning press breakfast, DuPont announced the commercial product launch of the following:

The DuPont™ Cromaprint™ 22UV inkjet printing system - An 86 inch wide UV Curable ink combination flatbed/roll-to-roll printer featuring DuPont™ Cromaprint™ six colors plus white UV cure ink set, the DuPont™ Cromanet™ CS color management and workflow software, flexibility to print on substrates up to two inches thick, and production speeds up to 441 square meters per hour.

The DuPont™ Cromalin® Largo2406 and Largo4406 digital proofing systems 24 inch and 44 inch wide format 2400dpi resolution aqueous ink printers featuring a DuPont Largo wide gamut six color pigmented ink set, the Cromanet™ CS color management and workflow software, select specialty coated medias, and production speeds up to 117 square feet per hour.

The DuPont™ Cromalin® Blue digital proofing system (announcement only, not shown live at SGIA) An upgraded version of the DuPont drum based proprietary digital proofing printer with much higher resolution and speed, still featuring an inline spectrophotometer and DuPont inks, media, and Cromanet™ color management and workflow server.

The DuPont™ Cromanet™ CS “Color Server” software color management and workflow tools An all new Windows 2000/XP software package for managing color and digital work flow across proofing and digital printing applications, featuring multi printer support, spectral based calibration and custom profiling, enhanced spot color functionality, Adobe® RIP, and professional color editing and job tools.

The DuPont color managed workflow story was laid out and demonstrated at the booth with an emphasis on using the DuPont™ Cromanet™ CS software to manage and drive the digital workflow from design, through proofing, to digital printing using choices of aqueous, solvent, or UV curable DuPont ink and printing systems, and then the DuPont™ iCertification™ process to verify color accuracy between them all. This was unique approach, which, according to Craig Reid, New Business Development Manager at DuPont, “Our goal at DuPont is to ensure our customers the ideal color workflow that will help print buyers to guarantee the color integrity of their brand. We do this by offering complete solutions, fully integrating the components of a print engine, ink technologies, substrates, and color management software, along with worldclass service and support, into a production system.”

The printed samples at the DuPont booth demonstrated high quality from all three types of DuPont ink aqueous, solvent, and UV curable. Most unique was the ability to color match between proofing, solvent, and UV cure applications on a variety of substrates.

Rich Burke, North American Sales Manager for DuPont Color Communication, claimed, “Sales at SGIA Digital were more than double our expectations for the new Cromaprint™ and Cromalin® Largo systems and we look forward to taking a bigger role in serving the digital printing community with our exciting new color managed product lines.”
