FIBER OPTIC LIT GLOBE CONVEYS A TRULY GLOBAL MARKETPLACE AT THE CHICAGO MERCANTILE EXCHANGE BUILDING
Fiberoptic Lighting, Inc. of Grants Pass, OR, designers and fabricators of imaginative fiber optic lighting, displays and signs for nearly two decades, designed the fiber optic lighting for this eye-catching globe that can be viewed above escalators at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, the largest futures exchange in the world.
In the financial world as well as in all types of businesses, image is everything. The Chicago Mercantile Exchange chose a globe from Spherical Concepts, which hangs in a Meraform geodesic dome type framework to create visual impact. Then, Fiberoptic Lighting, Inc. added the fiber optic effects to showcase the Exchange’s global dominance.
When Fiberoptic Lighting accepted the fiber optic lighting portion of this project, their job was to take an attention-getting globe to the next level with a lot of imagination and a great deal of fiber optic lighting. There are a total of 9,641 individual fibers in the globe. The continents are outlined; there are highlights in the oceans and then connecting lines between certain cities. Everything is powered by 4 halogen light sources -- each with one 50-watt bulb.
