DUPONT ANNOUNCES COMMERCIAL SHIPMENTS OF NEW CROMAPRINT™ 22UV UV CURE FLATBED AT ISA 2006

Orlando, Florida USA. - The DuPont™ Cromaprint™ 22UV is a complete inkjet digital printing system fully integrated by DuPont ­ 86inch (2.2m) wide UV Cure combination flatbed/roll-to-roll production print engine, next generation extended gamut UV Curable ink technology, an all new DuPont™ Cromanet™ CS (colour suite) providing RIP, spectral colour management, and production workflow tools, all installed with DuPont award winning service and support.

The total package is specifically designed to meet the high volume and high speed production needs for digital printing onto the widest variety of rigid and flexible media using a wide gamut six colors, plus white, UV Curable ink set. The Cromaprint™ 22UV offers print job flexibility to print onto substrates such as PVC, foam boards, acrylics, corrugated, glass, styrene, aluminium, wood, and within two minutes switch over to print onto flexible media such as DuPont™ Tyvek®, vinyl, and polyester film such as DuPont Teijin Melinex®.

“We began initial sales at the end of 2005 and now have systems installed producing quality jobs in more than 7 countries,” says Craig Reid, Global Marketing Manager, DuPont Color Communication. “We are excited about expanding our commercial availability and have scaled up production to meet our current order demand of twelve to fifteen units per month. Based on our customer’s early feedback, we have achieved the significant challenge we set for ourselves to have a system that can image a huge color gamut at fast production speeds onto a wide variety of substrates. We also improved the adhesion and hardness of the new DuPont™ Cromaprint™ UV cure inks.

The Cromaprint™ 22UV print performance specifications include: Image area of up to 82 inches (2.1m) wide and up to 2inches (50.8mm) thick, user selectable resolutions and number of passes to do realistic production speeds up 463 square feet per hour (43square meters), a 5 zone vacuum system to allow print job flexibility, 14 Spectra Galaxy 256 print heads (C, M ,Y, K, lc, lm + white), front to back registration for boards and automatic take-up for roll-to-roll media, driven by the Cromanet™ CS color control and workflow software suite to produce quality performance on a wide variety of substrates.

The DuPont™ Cromaprint™ 22UV digital printing systems is now being sold direct and through select distribution channels.
