SGIA ORS Increases Growth Potential
Online at SGIA.org Surveys & Statistics, Operating Ratio Study Provides Essential Info for Business Growth
Fairfax, Virginia — SGIA has launched the 2006 Operating Ratio Study online at Surveys & Statistics on SGIA.org. The biennial study has become a staple for businesses committed to growth.
“Every week I hear from members looking for the type of information the study reveals,” said SGIA Business Information Associate Alaina Harris.
The final report, which is free to survey participants, provides a comprehensive, user-friendly portrait of the industry. The in-depth resource includes detailed, industry-wide results and analytical insights.
Individual answers about expenses, inventory, cash flow and other financial issues are gathered by an outside firm and kept strictly confidential.
“SGIA’s ORS provides useful industry information to help us run our business. We review the data and compare it to our own results to highlight areas of strengths and weaknesses in our operation. As we reference it year after year, it serves as a great baseline to evaluate our own operating results,” said long-time SGIA member and regular ORS participant Albert “Chip” Basse, President, Albert Basse Associates Inc. (Stoughton, Massachusetts).
In addition to receiving a free copy of the final report, participants may purchase an Individual Company Performance Report (fee). The Individual report compares the respondents’ confidential performance ratios to those of industry peers with businesses most like theirs.
“SGIA’s Operating Ratio Study is an industry benchmark for the cost of doing business and should be a regular part of your company’s planning. It provides key information for making strong business decisions,” Harris said.
SGIA’s 2006 Operating Ratio Study is open for participation through June 16. To take the survey, visit Surveys and Statistics at SGIA.org.
