SGIA Set to Release Two New Safety Posters- Posters emphasize protective eyewear; safe practices for heavy lifting

Fairfax, Virginia — Next month, SGIA members should expect to find the latest SGIA workplace safety posters in their mailboxes. These two vividly colored posters — an SGIA member-exclusive benefit — highlight the importance of using safe practices when lifting heavy objects (“We’re Not All Superheroes; Heavy Objects Require Careful Lifting”) and the use of goggles to protect eyes from splash hazards (“Wear Your Goggles”).

The goggles poster recently won the Silver Award for the posters and promotional pieces category in the 2006 Association Trends competition.

“The whole intent is to create a visual reminder for employees about the safety rules they need to follow in the workplace,” says Marci Kinter, SGIA’s Vice President for Government & Business Information.

English-language versions of these safety posters are scheduled to be in the mail by early January. SGIA plans to send out Spanish-language versions within the first quarter of 2007.

“When visiting member facilities, from Australia to the United States, I frequently see our safety posters from years ago plastered on their walls. Companies love them because they are uncomplicated reminders about workplace safety,” Kinter says.

SGIA members can download and print the Association’s previous safety posters (in English and Spanish) from the Business & Government Information section of SGIA.org.

SGIA’s Business & Government Information department also provides resources on how safe shops can achieve better production, lower insurance rates and better employee morale.
