Students EnWRAPt with SGIA Vehicle Wrap Workshop - Attendees worked hands-on with pros at debut of SGIA’s newest workshop

Fairfax, Virginia — SGIA’s first Vehicle Wrap workshop (March 2930) was a sold-out hit, with attendees coming from all over to learn the basics and expert nuances of wrap installations.

“I definitely feel more confident about the application, and I liked the idea of having different material to try and use [during the workshop],” said attendee Artie Coscuna, Owner of Unique Graphics (Meriden, Connecticut).

Attendees spent the majority of the workshop at SGIA’s Digital Lab, in Fairfax, Virginia, applying and removing various vehicle graphics. In between hands-on sessions, instructor Dallas Fowler, Digital EFX Wrap (Louisville, Kentucky), gave inside information on vehicle wraps and their markets.

“Now I have experience in doing one, and can tell my students how it’s done, what it can cost and how vehicle wraps can be a lucrative business,” said Dennis Dougherty, with Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology (Lancaster, Pennsylvania).

Drawing from his industry experience, Fowler provided solutions and tips for every aspect of the job — from preparing a customer quote and measuring a vehicle to stretching the vinyl substrate and handling tricky surfaces during the application.

Even experienced vehicle wrap installers such as attendee Michael Sabbage said they benefited from the workshop. “Dallas had good techniques that could be helpful to anybody at any level,” said Sabbage, with Admark Graphic Systems Inc. (Charlotte, North Carolina).

Next month, SGIA will take this exciting workshop on the road to Irvine, California (May 2223). Visit SGIA.org to learn more and register.
