Mimaki USA announces a new UV product strategic relationship with 3M
Mimaki Engineering Co. Ltd. , Nagano, Japan, President: Akira Ikeda and Mimaki
USA Inc. President: Hisayuki Kobayashi today announce that 3M has developed a
new UV flexible inks for the new Mimaki UJV-160 roll and rigid hybrid printer due
for Spring 2008 release.
A flexible UV Solution from Mimaki and 3M
Although it is little known fact that 3M Company & Mimaki Engineering, Inc. have
an ongoing twenty year relationship, this is the first time that we have
collaborated to offer a new UV flexible ink. 3M vinyl print media has been an
important supporter of the best selling Mimaki with the JV3 and now JV33 wide
format solvent inkjet printers. Many independent and franchise sign shops, as
well as specialty graphics producers rely on the 3M media and JV series
(solvent) products for their day to day business. However, we anticipate a shift
toward flexible UV printing for various applications such as POP, printed on clear
and metallic substrates, textiles as well as rigid materials.
Mr. Ikeda says, “Mimaki feels that as the wide format printing industry becomes
more environmentally aware of the benefits of the new UV flexible inks, and the
UV roll and flatbed machine population increases take hold, this relationship
holds key quality & performance benefits for the end user”.
Mimaki is a key supplier of advanced UV printing technologies for the mid range
market and is introducing new products at an accelerated rate. The UJV-160 64”
wide roll and rigid hybrid printer will also handle rigid materials up to 7mm thick.
The new UV flexible inks offer high pigment density and minimal volatile organic
compounds. 7 color UV curable inks will be available: C,M,Y,K,Lc,Lm, and White.
