Enhanced Panasonic 8mm Large Screen System Delivers Highest Resolution In Times Square ­ Even In Bright Daylight.

Secaucus, NJ - Panasonic System Solutions Company has surpassed conventional digital billboards with its newly upgraded high resolution LED large screen for a major television network in New York City. The LED screen is located at 5 Times Square, which is positioned at the southwest corner of 7th Avenue and 42nd Street.

Expected to be utilized to display broadcasting from the network’s HD studio, the Panasonic board is 13 feet high and 22 feet wide, with a pixel pitch of 8mm, giving it the highest resolution of any board in Times Square. The board was upgraded in August 2008, in time to broadcast major events scheduled for the Summer and Fall seasons.

With an overall size of 20 LED panels high by 35 LED panels wide for a total of 700 LED panels, the board has a 3-color picture element in 1-chip SMD (surface mount device) technology. The module format allows for the boards to continue displaying content should one module need replacement. The boards are also designed for an ultra wide angle of viewing and vibrant colors, even in direct sunlight. That should make viewing easy for the 27 million visitors passing through Times Square annually.
